If it's sand and sea you are after then look no further. This little coastal village is known to have one of the best beaches in Northumberland and is very popular with tourists.
If history (and a little touch of magic) is more your thing then we would definitely suggest a trip to Alnwick Castle. Taking a starring role as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the first two Harry Potter movies, this centuries old castle has a whole host of things to see and do for all the family. Whether you want to take a Knight's Quest or simply look aound the exhibitions you are sure to find something for everyone.
If you can't get enough history then Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne are also within easy reach.

Fancy some fish and chips? If so then take a short trip to Seahouses, a beautiful little fishing port and seaside resort. Once you have had a chance to browse the great range of shops, board a boat trip to the Farne Islands one of the UK’s top wildlife experiences. A huge 150,000 seabirds vie for space here during breeding season! If birds aren't your thing then don't worry, we're sure the curious Grey Seals will manage to keep you entertained, especially as the Farne Islands boast one of the country’s largest colonies. Other popular activities include crazy golf and rock pooling, why not give them a try!

Skim over the sands and causeway to Holy Island and prepare to enter another world. Lying just a few miles off the Northumberland coast, Holy Island is cut off twice-daily from the rest of the world by fast-moving tides. Both an island and a picturesque village, Holy Island carries a wealth of history within its tidal walls.

Or perhaps it's a tad shopping you want to do, our town centre is full of gift shops and high street brands, if your looking for designer shopping then take a short 40 min drive to the metro centre in Newcastle.
